Welcome to Carolina Demography, a new service of the Carolina Population Center at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Carolina Demography focuses on the population characteristics and change occurring in North Carolina, its regions, counties, and communities. While demography is not destiny, understanding changes in population can help us understand broader shifts in everything from the economy to culture to political behavior.
Carolina Demography exists to transform the myriad of data products and analytic tools into specific, usable information and knowledge of demographic change to inform decision making, planning, and program evaluation throughout North Carolina.
